SHADOWS OF TOMORROW IS HERE!!!

I am beyond excited to share that my new album, Shadows of Tomorrow, was officially released on August 22 on Summit Records. After years of dreaming, writing, producing, and recording, it is finally out in the world, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

A Journey Through Light and Shadow

This album was born from a need to process both the challenges and the hopes of our times. In the liner notes I wrote that:

“May our music be the compass that leads us through the shadows and despair of the winding road toward the light that helps us grow, heal, and become better human beings.”

That idea has been my guiding force. These compositions blend the rhythms of my Dominican and Afro-Caribbean roots such as merengue, bachata, salsa, and palos with the expansive language of contemporary jazz, and even the fire of rock and metal. It is music that acknowledges the weight of uncertainty but refuses to stop searching for hope.

They are voices of memory and identity, of resilience and imagination. This album is my way of affirming that through music, we can honor our past while still daring to dream of a better tomorrow.

“May our music be the compass that leads us through the shadows and despair of the winding road toward the light.” SG

Why I Wrote the Music

When I began composing for Shadows of Tomorrow, I found myself reflecting on our world today—the uncertainty, the challenges, but also the glimmers of light that guide us forward. These pieces were born out of my desire to create music that acknowledges the weight of shadows and, simultaneously insists on the possibility of healing and hope.

Looking Forward

Recording this album with the SGLJO and guest artists has been a deeply moving experience. Their artistry brought these compositions to life with energy, soul, and brilliance. As I look ahead, I am filled with gratitude, for my family, my mentors, my students, and all of you who continue to believe in the power of music.

Shadows of Tomorrow is not just a recording; it is a vision of what’s possible when we allow the coexistence of multiple cultures and life experiences, creativity, and community to meet in one place. My hope is that these sounds will accompany you on your own journey, through the shadows and into the light. I hope it becomes part of the soundtrack or your life in our shared quest for a better world.
